This permit is for the watering and establishment of new sod or seed, and native seed conversions outside of allowed watering days and times, during periods of water restrictions.
Permit Information
This permit is for the watering and establishment of new sod, seed, and native grass outside of allowed watering days and times, during periods of water restrictions. Permits are for 21 days for the installation and establishment of sod and grass seed (or overseeding grass seed).
Examples of sod could be Kentucky Bluegrass, Turf Type Fescue, Fine Fescues, Texas Hybrid Bluegrass, and Tahoma 31. Native grass seed permits are for the establishment of native grass seed are for 42 days. Examples of native grass seed could be Buffalo and Blue Grama grass. Permits
will expire after the time frame given. If you need more time than the time given, contact water@thorntonwater.com to discuss. Do not apply for a second permit to extend the time.
Processing of the form will take 2-3 business days. You will receive an email with the permit status if it is approved or denied.
After your application is approved, a permit will be e-mailed. Display printed permit in a front window or door of the property. If you cannot print the permit, email water@thorntonwater.com or call 720-977-6600 and we can mail it to you.
This permit is only for Thornton water customers. Sewer only customers should contact their water provider for water restriction status and watering permit information.
The permit fee, which will be added to your utility bill, is non-refundable and non-transferable for any reason.
Follow best practices of watering for the establishment of sod and seed provided to you by the sod or seed manufacturer. Do not allow water to unreasonably flow off the property and pool in gutters and/or nearby properties. Watering in an unreasonable manner, will be subject to the water-waste ordinance guidelines and water-waste violations/fines.
